MCC is fortunate to have a very dedicated and capable coaching staff. Our coaches are nationally certified, and are experienced in working with all ages of the paddling type. All our coaches carry impressive resumes of paddling experience- many of whom have enjoyed tremendous success on both national and international stages. Each coach is committed to helping all MCC members achieve their personal paddling goals, whether it is basic boat skills, increasing general fitness or to compete for Canada at Jr./Sr. international events.
The 2011 MCC Coaching Staff is quarterbacked by first year Head Coach Kyle Jeffery. Kyle brings 12 years of International competition experience, highlighted by a silver medal at the 2006 ICF Canoe World Championships, held in Szeged, Hungary. He credits his successes on the water to the great tradition of superior MCC coaching and is honourd to now play an integral part in the makings of Missy’s future paddling stars.
Assisting Kyle is Lifetime member, Olympian and past MCC Head Coach, Dean Oldershaw. Dean now plays a significant role in nurturing the growth and development of Missy’s Kayak athletes and remains a significant influence on our successful war canoe programs. Dean brings an exhausting resume of National records and International results that unequivocally raises Missy amongst the leading club powers in the kayaking stage.
Helping MCC’s Masters Master the art of sprint paddling is Sabi Feigler. ‘Sabs’, as we know him brings a ‘soft but tough’ coaching style to the Masters program. He recognizes the need to provide great coaching to all our members, as they too have paddling ambitions that through his program may very well be realized this year at the Canadian Masters Championships.
Our young Atom, Peewee and Bantam athletes are well coached here at MCC. Leading and coordinating the team of coaches is Rachel Edwards. Rachel’s love for helping kids learn the great sport of canoe/kayak, her dedication to the club, her knowledge of the sport and her glowing personality make Rachel a fantastic leader of the Bantam Program.
